Different experiments were performed in order to compare the growth and reproduction of culture of ceriodaphnia dubia, fed with algae’s (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata), YTC or a mix of algae’s, YCT and a supplement of vitamins and selenium. The results showed that the individuals fed with algae’s or YTC only, presented delays in maturation, decrease on the net rates of reproduction (Ro) and population growth (r) , together with the increase in generational time (To), compared to the ones fed with the mix of algae’s/YCT/supplement . On these last ones, individuals maturate in three days; the Ro was of 134 neonates/ female to the 12th birth, the r during the first five births were 0.25 d-1 and the mortality to the 12th birth was only 5%. After defined the feeding conditions of culture, it was proceed to mount and validate the acute toxicity tests with hexavalent chromium. In the results of the acute toxicity test an average of LC50-48h = 0.21 mg Cr+6/l was registered with limits of trust to the 95% between 0.20 – 0.22 mg Cr+6/l.
