Rosemary is an aromatic herb widely distributed to that attributed many medicinal properties, as well as for being distributed worldwide Since ancient times, this plant has been grown mainly for therapeutic, culinary and cosmetic purposes. Sexual propagation for rosemary is quite difficult as the plant itself produces just a few seeds with a low viability, so that vegetative propagation is the preferred option in terms of commerce. Nevertheless, several matters related to the root development process in different rosemary cultivars are still unknown. The goal of conducting this research was to assess how “Crespo” and Israeli rosemary cuttings root under greenhouse conditions. A random design was used, comprising 9 repetitions of 72 cuttings per variety. On a weekly basis and during 144 days, variables such as root percentage, height, number of nods, root length and dry and total weight of the cuttings, were recorded. Root development rate and average time for the start and end of all stages and for each one of the cultivars, were also calculated .The results of the research show that the root and survival percentages were auspicious, and there were not significant differences between both cultivars. There were not either significant differences regarding growth variables such as height, number of nods, root weight, and total dry weight for both cultivars. The only remarkable exception was root length, which was higher for Crespo Rosemary. Concerning the duration of all stages, there were found some differences at the start of the process, nevertheless the Crespo and Israeli rosemary cuttings make it to the last stage at the same time. The time for root development for the cuttings was 20 weeks, with no significant differences regarding the root speed for both cultivars
