The municipality of Pradera, located to the south of the department of Valle del Cauca, has a varied topography as well as its relief that includes geographical contrasts with extensive and warm mountain ranges and grasslands planted with sugarcane. Strongly affected by the violence due to the criminal actions of the FAR-ONT-FARC, which is currently in the process of demobilization, which resulted, among other things, in forced displacement, unemployment and economic backwardness.
Today, when the ONT- FARC, following the peace agreement signed with the government in 2016, are no longer present in the Pradera mountains, there is an opportunity for the inhabitants of the rural hinterland, taking advantage of the Post conflict and the existing support provided by the government, through entities such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the National Service of Learning SENA; Return to their farms and reactivate the dynamics of the field. For this, the development of fish farming through the cultivation of Red Tilapia, a growing sector and an environmentally friendly practice is proposed. All this taking advantage of the climatic and environmental characteristics of the region and the economic prosperity and infrastructure present in the environs of the municipality of Pradera.
