This document develops a methodology for the survey of electrical networks with the application of LIDAR
technology and photogrammetry. In Colombia there is an extensive network of electrical lines that require
constant maintenance and interventions on all its infrastructure to correct the problems generated by
natural and anthropic phenomena that lead to non-compliance with existing regulations. Through the use
of new technologies such as airborne LIDAR and supported by traditional methods such as
photogrammetry, it is possible to carry out the three-dimensional survey and modeling of the entire
electrical infrastructure, including all the cartographic and non-cartographic elements found In the area of
influence of the electric corridor, to use them as input on geospatial analysis tools in order to find
distances, areas, proximity and any variables that can be quantified and analyzed with the objective of
finding and geo locating the specific place where they were found, its type and level of affectation or
grade of severity and with this to generate saving in time, resources diminishing of step the risks inherent
to the inspections by land. With the correct use of the tools and with a good technical knowledge for the
treatment of LIDAR data, it is possible to achieve better results in the inspections of electrical networks,
more precise, objective and in times that do not compare with those obtained by another method.
