In the present work the hydraulic design of a culvert used in the road drainage is developed for two different materials: corrugated metal and reinforced concrete, for the diameters of 900, 1000 and 1200 millimeters. In order to apply the knowledge acquired in hydraulics and road drainage. In addition, a research process is carried out and a comparative analysis of the hydraulic functioning of these two types of materials is developed. Jointly is the collection of the necessary information to address the hydraulic calculations of the metallic pipe, which is not usually used in the road drainage of the country.
A spreadsheet is also made, in which are each of the variables and equations with control at the output that allows the use of the roughness coefficient of Manning, this being the essential comparative factor in the behavior of each type of pipeline. , in the same way the input load is established, which is the decisive indicator in the application or not of the pipe in analysis; this is due to the fact that a high input load can affect the safety and integrity of the road, therefore its value is sought to be within the permitted limits. To perform these calculations, different flow rates are chosen, which verifies the control section, the critical parameters, the slopes, the speeds and the losses, performing an analysis of the resulting situation.
Likewise for the computation process, the HY-8 software is applied, with this program the results obtained are verified and its schemes are used, choosing different flow and slope configurations for each type of pipeline and the results are analyzed.
