The availability of remote sensing tools makes it possible to determine and classify crops, which makes it easier to detect phytosanitary problems in vegetation through spectral signatures and one of their vegetation indexes, such as the NDVI (Index of vegetation of normalized difference). However, obtaining and analyzing the spectral signatures depend on the physical properties of the plants that are in function, with the species, the characteristics of the leaves, the content of main pigments such as chlorophyll and the radiation conditions. In this study, with the help of some geographic information systems such as QGIS and SCP, ArcGIS and Erdas Imagine, the calculation of the NDVI and the analysis of the spectral signatures of the oil palm cultivation (Elaeis guineesis) in an experimental lot located in the rural area of Aracataca, Magdalena by means of an aerial image taken with an unmanned aerial vehicle in order to obtain the characteristics of the electromagnetic radiation of the plant and detect the vegetable state of the crop.
