This article contains the main results of a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the occurrence of forest events (burns, outbreak of fire and fires) in the city of Bogotá, executed with the historical record of events attended by the Special Administrative Unit of the Official Fire Department of Bogotá in the period between 2014 and 2019. The main objective of this study is to increase the knowledge of the risk due to forest events in the city, characterizing the spatial behavior (using the ArcGIS software tools), the temporal behavior and performing an analysis of the consolidated causes in the records and the type of vegetation affected. The foregoing as input for the formulation of intervention measures to reduce this type of risk in the city. The study found that the priority localities for the intervention of risk reduction activities due to forest burns are Ciudad Bolívar, Bosa, Kennedy, Rafael Uribe Uribe and San Cristóbal; and to reduce the risk of outbreaks of fire and fires in the towns of Sumapaz, San Cristóbal and Usme. Additionally, the relationship between the occurrence of forest events and the affected area with the phenomena of climate variability was distinguished; likewise, the relationship with the city's own climatic regime in the monthly behavior and with the atmospheric time regime with the hourly behavior is evidenced. Finally, there is evidence of the need to strengthen knowledge of risk in causes of forest events and the type of vegetation affected.
