In Colombia, today the TAPH (Technology in Pre-Hospital Care) career is offered by more than 6 universities in different regions of the country since the beginning of 2002, developing programs at a technical, technological and professional level. Graduates of these academic programs have been interacting with patients for more than 15 years in many of the prehospital events and emergencies that have occurred in the country. The reality for the Prehospital Care Technologist is fortuitous, because the TAPH career is emerging and its graduates have little visibility in society, which generates a negative impact for the Technologist in their work field. The field of action of the Pre-Hospital Care Technologist is very broad, and not only applies to being an ambulance crew member, but is also trained to work in many sectors that, different from the health sector, for example, the Pre-Hospital Care Technologist is trained to work in any company, carry out and evaluate emergency plans, and lead a brigades of the same.
This research project seeks to publicize the TAPH career in all its context, highlighting the attitudes and skills with which a Technologist in Prehospital Care is trained, who manages to give recognition not only monetary but also of visibility within society, and in this way have a better work position and a recognized profile, not as a nurse or first-aid personnel of any other rapid response institution as many people often do when they confuse their profiles with the one already mentioned. In order to achieve this objective, an exploratory study was carried out with a mixed approach through surveys and statistical analysis, and in this way to have a first approach to the problem that was determined to be studied and the topic that was addressed, for this a A determined group of people randomly as long as they met the requirements, in this way the objectives set about the perception and visibility of the technologist in Prehospital Care were left in front of society, thus seeking to specify the most important criteria that were object in this investigation.
Finally, after obtaining, reviewing and systematizing the data corresponding to 156 surveys carried out by the research group to the teaching staff, administrative staff, and students of the UMNG, it is found that 87% corresponding to 136 people surveyed have knowledge about what It is Prehospital Care, while 13% are equivalent to 20 people who do not know it. Concluding that the research carried out gives us results that show us that both TAPH and Prehospital Care Technologists are currently more widely recognized in society, compared to previous years.
