The digital age, aptly called the fourth industrial revolution, is a global phenomenon that invites us to see in an optimistic but challenging way how the accelerated changes in today's world can be an opportunity to generate true sustainable innovation from organizations. It is estimated that by 2020 more than 60% of global GDP will be digital and in Latin America it will be more than 50%, according to the IDC (IDC 2018). This will be the biggest bet that we must make as a country and as a competent organization. Colombia only absorbs 4.4% of the share of electronic commerce in Latin America, far from countries such as Brazil 38.3% or Argentina 22%. The above shows us that there is still a lot to do.
We still have time to obtain digital dividends and leverage the development of our organization and the surveillance sector to avoid lag through the use of new technologies. To achieve this, it is necessary to focus efforts on the construction of three main pillars: connectivity, business technology adoption and digitization of our business.
The "New Digital Economy" is already part of the reality in which we live and must stop being seen as an alternative economy. ¨Gomez, 2019¨
