The municipality of San Vicente de Chucuri is located in the central part of the department of Santander, Colombia, in the eastern part of the Valle Medio del Magdalena basin, near the Cordillera Oriental, a region that has gone through different geological processes that have led to the formation of different types of rocks, including karstic systems. This type of soil presents changes in its physical and chemical characteristics due to the process of chemical dissolution of calcite that occurs when it comes into contact with water. These changes happen imperceptibly on the surface, which leads to sudden collapses of the subsoil that can reach up to kilometers in length, which are known as sinkholes. In the municipality of San Vicente de Chucuri, several places with this type of soils are recognized, which are not only manifested in these seeps, but also different rock outcrops are known along the village roads of the municipality with this characteristic. Therefore, the present study focused on mapping the distribution of these geoforms from existing information that was processed in a GIS and reaching the generation of a map with the distribution of these rocks and thus have an input towards future development projects. of the infrastructure and territorial ordering of the municipality that allows the identification of this type of geological threat that is currently little known.
