Abstract
En este trabajo se evalúa el desarrollo y los elementos del comercio internacional de flores colombianas, dando un aporte al análisis en los procesos de producción y comercialización a partir de la teoría económica del Diamante de Competitividad de Michael Porter. El trabajo contempla al sector floricultor colombiano como un todo y su desarrollo en el comercio internacional a partir del papel del Estado que no ha sabido implementar políticas adecuadas para impulsar el sector, lo que podría conllevar a un descenso en el mercado internacional. Se hace uso de una metodología mixta, por medio del análisis cualitativo se aprovechan las herramientas cuantitativas para evaluar cómo ha sido el desarrollo del sector floricultor colombiano desde el Diamante de Competitividad, enfocándose en el rol del Estado y su responsabilidad, teniendo en cuenta el Tratado de Libre Comercio con los Estados Unidos como punto de partida. En suma, a pesar de las condiciones del mercado y los atributos de Michel Porter que se hayan podido o no desarrollar en el sector floricultor colombiano, deja ver el papel del Estado y su poca eficiencia para impulsar a uno de los sectores más importantes de la economía nacional en un ambiente globalizado.
This work assesses the development, and elements of the international trade of Colombian flowers, giving a contribution to the analysis in the process of production and marketing from the economic theory of the Diamond of Competitiveness of Michael Porter. Work includes the flower industry Colombian as a whole and its development in international trade from the role of the State that has failed to implement adequate policies to boost the sector, which could lead to a decline in the international market. It makes use of a mixed methodology, through qualitative analysis quantitative tools are used to evaluate how has been the development of the sector Colombian floriculture from the Diamond of Competitiveness, focusing on the role of the State and its responsibility, taking into account the free trade agreement with the United States as a starting point. In sum, despite the market conditions and attributes of Michel Porter have been able or not develop in the Colombian flower industry, let see the role of the State and its low efficiency to drive one of the most important sectors of the national economy in a globalized environment.
