This paper deals with the estimation of scouring in the Fonce River (San Gil, Santander) under conditions of minimum flows using different statistical distributions and by the methods of initial and central statistical moments, all this to respond to the Incognita de What is the difference of the scouring process generated by annual maximum flows and the scouring generated by annual minimum flows? For this, the information found in the IDEAM database of annual minimum flows corresponding to the years between 1955 and 2014 was used. The data were then analyzed using the Normal, Log-Normal, Gumbel and Pearson distributions. All this to know and to determine which one was better fitted to the Gaussian bell and thus to calculate the design flow for a period of return of 50 years. Finally, the Hec - Ras 4.0 software was designed to determine the presence or not of the under - load in the piles of the bridge under study, with the different studied variables such as design flow, bathymetry and minimum flows. The results obtained were compared with the data of the report "Hydrological, hydraulic and underwater studies for the construction of a vehicular bridge in the municipality of San Gil, Santander", and it was determined that the undercutting is considerably lower during minimum flows than during maximum flows. This work is the result of the research project of the Military University Nueva Granada No. INV IMP 2134 of 2016, which was financed with resources of the Vicerrectoría de Investigaciones of the New Granada Military University and developed together with the University of Pamplona.eng
