| spa |

dc.description.abstractenglish | Introduction: Multiple sclerosis (MS), an immunologically mediated demyelinating disease, it is estimated that more than two million people worldwide suffer from this disease, which is one of the most common causes of neurological disability in young adults, although Often not clinically recognized, sleep disorders (insomnia, sleep-disordered breathing, and restless legs syndrome) occur in patients with MS more often than in the general population. Materials and methods: Case series study evaluating the presentation of sleep disorders in patients with Multiple Sclerosis treated between 2011 and 2015, at the Central Military Hospital of Bogotá, using as measuring instruments, the scales of Epworth Sleepiness Scale, STOP-BANG Questionnaire, and International Restless Legs Syndrome Scale. The data obtained from the measurement instruments were processed using the SPSS statistical package. Results: The present study reported a high frequency of sleep disorders in patients with Multiple Sclerosis, 12 of the 15 patient patients had a sleep disorder, being more frequent in women, the most frequent sleep disorder was insomnia, 6 patients with subclinical insomnia And 3 patients with moderate insomnia, followed by restless legs syndrome, 8 of the 15 patients and 6 patients with OSA risk (5 OSA intermediate risk and 1 high risk), and 4 patients presented daily daytime somnolence. Conclusion: It was determined that patients with MS in the Central Military Hospital presented a high frequency of sleep disorders, which is in agreement with what is reported in the literature, new analytical studies are needed regarding diagnosis, quality of life, fatigue and progression of disease. | eng |
