Abstract: El cultivo de Solanum betaceum (tomate de árbol) es un producto importante del sector de la agricultura colombiana, dado al crecimiento de sus exportaciones. Sin embargo, su producción es altamente afectada por la antracnosis causada por Colletotrichum spp., la cual, es generalmente tratada con productos de síntesis química. En este trabajo se estudió el control y desarrollo in vitro, órgano desprendido e in planta de cuatro aislamientos de levaduras (Aislamiento 6, EM-1, Galactomyces candidum y Meyerozima guilliermondii) contra tres especies de Colletotrichum (C. asianum, C. tamarilloi y C. theotrombicola) en S. betaceum. En las pruebas in vitro las cuatro levaduras inhibieron el crecimiento entre 30-40%, a excepción de EM-1, la cual tuvo 10% de inhibición con diferencias significativas. En órgano desprendido e in planta con previa aplicación de tres levaduras, hubo control efectivo en el desarrollo de la antracnosis contra Colletotrichum spp., mostrando diferencias significativas entre cada tratamiento y su respectivo control. Se evidenció el potencial de las levaduras empleadas para controlar el desarrollo de la antracnosis en S. betaceum.
Abstract: The crop of Solanum betaceum (tree tomato) is an important product of the colombian agriculture sector, due to increment of its exportations. However, its production is affected highly by anthracnose plant disease caused by Colletotrichum spp., which is usually treated by using chemical products. In this work was studied the potential in vitro, detached plant organ, in planta biocontrol and development of four isolates of yeasts (A-6 isolate, EM-1, Galactomyces candidum and Meyerozima guilliermondii) against three Colletotrichum spp. (C. asianum, C. tamarilloi and C. theotrombicola) in S. betaceum. In vitro tests showed that the three yeasts inhibited el growth of Colletotrichum spp. between 30-40%, except EM-1 isolate, which promoted 10% of inhibition with significant differences (p<0.05). In detached organ and in planta tests by previous spraying of three yeasts, there was effective control over anthracnose development (Colletotrichum spp.), showing significant differences (p<0.05) between each experimental treatment and its respective control treatment. The potential biocontrol activity of yeasts was evidenced for controlling the anthracnose plant disease development in S. betaceum.
