This research work was carried out with the aim of deepening the study of the Cuban case, analyzing the bilateral relations between the governments of Cuba and the United States, during the period between 1959 (January 1), when the Cuban revolution, and 2015 in which the processes of normalization of relations begin, when the respective embassies was opened. The subject will be studied in the light of structural realism or neorealism, having as main reference author Kenneth Waltz, as well as the aspects related to the theory of the State and its elements, from the theoretical scope of the author Vladimiro Naranjo.
Both the time frame proposed and the chosen theoretical references seek to respond to the concern about how different events of international relevance, gave shape to the continuous distancing, friction and rapprochement between Cuba and the United States, leading to events that allowed bilateral normalization.
