Abstract
The International Financial Reporting Standards - IFRS have arrived in Colombia pretending that the financial statements prepared and presented by the companies of the country are interpreted in the universal language, allowing their financial statements to be comparable with those of other international companies. Within all the regulations to be implemented in Colombia, we find IAS 11 construction contracts, it establishes the accounting treatment of revenues and costs associated with construction contracts, because due to the nature of this activity, the start and end date of the contract correspond to different periods, this being the problem of the allocation of income and expenses of the same to the accounting periods in which the construction is executed, on the side of the SMEs we find Section 23 which indicates how revenue should be accounted and costs of ordinary activities, and in its scope, it talks about construction contracts in which the entity is the contractor, establishing recognition, measurement and disclosure parameters.
