Abstract
Although death is linked to the biological process of human beings, in some cases it happens unnecessarily and prematurely in the knowledge and the existing technological possibilities. Perinatal mortality is immersed in this logic, so it is necessary to explore, evaluate and quantify its main causes and determining factors considering the geographic effects to guide the actions with territorial approach. In this way, the objective of this research focuses on to characterize the behavior of the spatial distribution of cases of perinatal mortality in the urban area of Bogotá, which occurred in 2014, disaggregated by age of the mother. For its achievement, exploratory data analysis, data normalization, exploratory analysis of spatial data and comparison with some socioeconomic variables of the territory were performed. As a result, weighted inverse interpolation indicated some local foci with extreme maternal ages; while it was not possible to obtain interpolations of the Kriging type. In conclusion, the variable age of mother in the cases of perinatal mortality does not explain by itself the way in which it is located in space, even in the closest cases to each other, although it does allow to identify areas susceptible to observation, monitoring and priority intervention. Given this, multifactorial models are required to characterize and spatially dimension the complex event of perinatal mortality, with the purpose of orienting and/or stimulating actions.
