The Department of Vaupés is located in the north of the Colombian Amazon and is a territory rich in biodiversity. The capital of the department is the city of Mitú. This municipality currently has a serious problem of supplying the basic products for the subsistence of the human being, given the conditions of the soils and the poor techniques of chagras crops which according to SINCHI (Amazonian Institute of Scientific research), They are polycultures that require the clearing of the Territory for the preparation of the soils for the exploitation and sowing, but given the conditions of humidity and acidity the crops are not very successful for their production. Given this problematic this municipality goes to the purchase of the products for daily subsistence to cities like Bogotá and Villavicencio. Bearing in mind that the only forms of transport to the Territory are by air and river the costs taxed to these products are quite high due to the high freights and the shortage of airlines and fluvial companies that have destination in this city.
