The United Nations, regional organizations and government agencies have joined forces to try to end the confrontations and suffering of civilians, invoking the doctrine of the responsibility to protect. This doctrine, provides tools for States to protect victims of human rights violations and justify a humanitarian intervention. Throughout the document, we will talk about the doctrine evolution, the way in which it has been applied or in the case of Sirio, its criticisms and positive aspects. The present essay has a qualitative character. I used as analysis techniques the review of documents and the documentary analysis.
