Y como fuentes teóricas lo expuesto en las obras de Elinor Ostrom, “Governing the Commons: The Evolution of Institutions for Collective Action (1990)” y Joseph Stiglitz, “Globalization and its Discontents (2002”.
The following investigations, intends to analyze the oligopolic behavior of the pharmaceutical industry between the years of 2004 and 2015, showing how this behavioral pattern incides on the access to medicine for the oncology therapies on emergent countries and how the health quality is affected of the people with scarce economic resources is affected. The investigation is delimited taking Colombia from the chronical cancer therapy perspective, considering variables such as access limitations, research and development founding, health care systems, patent systems among others.
This reality of the pharmaceutical industry is linked with the common good concept exposed by Aristotle, saint Thomas Aquinas and later on by the catholic social teaching. As theoretical sources the concepts exposed by the works of Elinor Ostrom “Governing the Commons: The Evolution of Institutions for Collective Action (1990)” and Joseph Stiglitz, “Globalization and its Discontents (2002)”. Exhibiting how these powerful industries, as well as the government and its institutions, should assume a quick change of mindset, looking to achieve balance between the particular benefit and the general welfare.
