The objective of the present Project is to design an aerobic mobile bed reactor for domestic wastewater treatment. In the first place, a description of the research problem is presented and what motive to choose such technology as the foundation of the work, as well as the justification and general and specific objectives of the same. On chapter 2 presents the theoretical framework and some fundamental concepts in aerobic processes in wastewater treatment as well as a general description of the activated sludge system, since many of the theoretical applications for this technology are used for the operation and design of the MBBR reactor. In order to understand the advances and current reach of the mobile bed technology, it was necessary to carry out an extensive literature review of the results obtained in the different applications, advantages and disadvantages of said treatment worldwide; The reader is also presented with the main characteristics of the wastewater prepared as a tributary of the reactor and the concepts of the parameters that would be evaluated during the operation of the system. The applied system was divided into two main phases: one inoculation and one operation of the reactor based on a weekly control of the measurement of different physical-chemical parameters that would allow to evaluate the quality of the water before, during and after the treatment in order to present results of graph and tabular with application of descriptive statistics that would allow to model the reactor mathematically and obtain the oxygen requirement and the necessary power of the aerators to satisfy said demand. Finally, we conclude about the percentages of organic matter removal obtained, the behavior of parameters such as pH, temperature, and concentration of biomass, the strengths of the MBBR technology and the recommendations for future research. The work is based on the application of the water quality tests of the STANDARD METHODS ed.22.
