This article is based on the intention of the countries to be sustainable and the relation sustainability with the tourist sector as an important source of economic income for the countries, but also a generator of both positive and negative impacts on the destinations and ecosystems where tourism is developed. For this reason, an analysis of this sector is carried out in relation to Tourism Sustainability and the different strategies that are being implemented to carry out responsible tourism. The article is developed under qualitative research. Firstly, through a bibliographic review that allowed establishing the commitment of this sector to sustainability and the different strategies that are being carried out in different countries to promote responsible and sustainable tourism. Secondly, with the implementation of semi-structured interviews with people involved in the tourism sector in Colombia, who shared their point of view regarding sustainable tourism from the areas of Corporate, Legal and Commercial Social Responsibility. From the literature review, it was possible to establish a great commitment of countries such as Mexico, Colombia and Spain, since they have demonstrated to have established norms and regulations that allow a balance between tourists and the environment. The latter was achieved through the development of communication, awareness and above all legal strategies that require an adequate and controlled action on the environment. From the interviews, it is possible to analyze that tourism has been doing things well. However, it requires stronger legislation and government intervention to demonstrate concrete results of care for the environment in the sector. Additionally, there is evidence of weakness in environmental tourism education and this must be one of the priorities of the sector, since tourism moves and runs with tourists, who if they are sensitized can achieve significant changes.
