Abstract
The concept “epiphyte" refers to any type of plant that grows on another plant, using it only as a support, without parasitizing its host and it is estimated that 10% of the vascular plants are epiphytes. This type of plants plays a fundamental role in tropical ecosystems, their importance is that they contribute a large amount of biomass, regulate the water flow of the forest, fix nutrients with their aerial roots that are directly in the atmosphere and incorporate them into the trophic cycle of the forest. However, many these species, besides being closed, are in some degree of threat or vulnerability, mainly due to the deforestation that the country presents, which is why their populations are being decimated. This article present a methodological proposal for the characterization of vascular and non-vascular species in the epiphytic, terrestrial and rupicolas habits, which are in a national ban by INDERENA through Resolution 0213 of 1977, in order to obtain the information necessary to raise the management measures, which are basically focused on the rescue, transfer and relocation of the vascular species in closed season and the planting of trees of preference for establishment for the non-vascular species, in order to mitigate or compensate the affectation of these species in the different projects that need removal of the vegetation cover at the national level.
