Abstract
This essay presents a dissertation about the evaluation process in the technical training programs in the nursing area, analyzing the role that the teacher plays in the development of the competences that students should acquire, in relation to the guidelines of the certification institutions, in this case the Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje (SENA) and the Ministerio de Educación de Colombia (MEN). The role of the teacher is reviewed from the point of view of some authors, such as Sergio Tobón, who raises two fundamental aspects of the teaching-learning process: the decisive influence of the teacher in the learning process of his students and in the acquisition of competences by them. However, the author argues that the teacher is not the only one who has the responsibility for this, because the educational system of Colombia and its organization make the training complex, due to the great diversity of providers of training programs and the need to respond immediately to the needs of the productive sector, which has determined the profiles of the graduate of technical and technological training programs. These needs of the productive sector should not deviate the evaluation process but should be integrated into the training process in a way that allows the student to make significant learning, so that he can acquire the skills required for their level of training and performance area.
