This work consisted in the design of a flexible pavement structure for the extension section of the Armenia - Airport route between K 2 + 000 AL K 6 + 100 in the Department of Quindío applying the AASHTO 93 method.
The AASHTO 93 method in the design of flexible pavement structures, consists of an equation where a structural number (SN) is obtained, a value that indicates the total resistance required of the pavement structure; it is based on the traffic and the reliability of the data and the CBR that by means of different correlations the Resilient Module of our support soil can be defined, besides taking into account other factors that influence this design.
Once the corresponding calculations were carried out using the AASHTO method, it was obtained that for the section under study according to the traffic characteristics it is necessary to use a total structure thickness of 75cm, discriminated in 38 cm of granular subbase, 25 cm of granular base and 12 cm of asphalt folder.
