Abstract
The objective of this research is to identify the perception of 11th grade students and teachers about the implementation of the Chair of Peace at the Soacha High School. A normative and theoretical revision is made on the main advances that have taken place in Colombia to carry out the teaching, recognizing the importance of educating students in the peaceful solution of conflicts, respect for human rights, tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and advance in the development of citizen competencies. The research is mixed, descriptive and for its development, the categories of study analysis were established: historical memory, responsibility with peace, diversity and recognition and sustainable development. The instruments were designed to collect information that were validated by expert judges, and applied with the appropriate informed consent and approved by the participants, and those responsible for dealing with minors. The study was conducted with teachers who are part of the social sciences area and who have different roles within the area, recognizing that everyone was involved with their coordination, teaching and evaluation. Similarly, a hundred eleven students of grade 11 who have studied the Chair for Peace participated. Among the main findings is that it is necessary to involve families in the process, as well as train teachers who dictate the chair, articulate it with the rest of the subjects and strengthen their teaching with extracurricular activities. Likewise, it is recognized that students´ value positively the sustainable development and with lower scores they perceive that about diversity and recognition lack a greater level of deepening.
