Resumen
Desde la aparición de la Seguridad privada en Colombia desde el 9 de abril de 1948, se inició la institucionalización de esta actividad, expidiendo diversos Decretos y Decretos Leyes, al inicio la autoridad de controlar esta actividad lo fue la Policía Nacional, para 1971 se le delegó esta función al Ministerio de Defensa Nacional y en 1993 a la Superintendencia de vigilancia y
Seguridad Privada, que fue creada en el mismo año. El gobierno nacional, desde el surgimiento de la actividad de vigilancia y seguridad privad, buscó la normalizarla, y siempre en cabeza de él, al igual que la remuneración económica a pagar a pagar por su prestación. Con la aparición del Decreto Ley 356 de 1993, “Estatuto de Vigilancia y Seguridad privada”, facultó en el artículo 92 al gobierno nacional para fijar unas tarifas mínimas a fin de garantizar por lo menos el pago de las obligaciones laborales de los trabajadores de las empresas de vigilancia y seguridad privada, posteriormente para el año 2007 se expide el Decreto 4950, el cual modifica la matriz de cálculo de los servicios de vigilancia y seguridad privada. En la actualidad existen más de 200.000 vigilantes a nivel nacional, convirtiéndose la actividad de vigilancia y seguridad privada, en una de las dinámicas generando empleo y surgimiento de nuevas empresas dedicadas a esta actividad. Todo esto por lo rentabilidad que generan a las empresas dedicarse a esta actividad.

All this for the profitability that companies generate to dedicate themselves to this activity.
