| dc.description | La endotelina es un péptido vasoconstrictor aislado inicialmente del cerdo de donde procede su denominación. Es considerado como el más potente vasoconstrictor conocido por el hombre, es incluso 10 veces más potente que la angiotensina II. Existen tres isoformas y están distribuidas en diversas células y tejidos interviniendo en la modulación del tono vascular, proliferación celular, producción hormonal, balance del sodio y como neurotransmisor. Para la regulación del tono vascular debe de haber un equilibrio de fuerzas vasoconstrictoras y vasodilatadoras generados por el endotelio o que ejercen influencia sobre el mismo, existen varios candidatos en la categoría de los vasoconstrictores, pero el más importante es la endotelina-1 por su potencia y su localización, ya que su acción es ejercida sobre el músculo liso vascular. | es-ES |
