Abstract
Introduction: Ankylosing spondyloarthropathy is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the mobility of the axial skeleton, a pathology of great interest due to the impact on morbidity and mortality, quality of life and health costs derived from associated comorbidities, as well as functional limitation and work disability. The objective of this study was to evaluate the changes in ranges of articular mobility of the cervical and lumbar spine, hip, knee and neck, in patients with ankylosing spondyloarthropathy and compare them with control subjects, on population from the Central Military Hospital of Bogotá – Colombia.
Methods: During the months of September and October 2019, sampling sessions were held in the Biomechanics Laboratory using a designed protocol for 20 patients with spondyloarthropathy and 20 healthy subjects. The measurement of each volunteer was carried out by means of the BASMI classification metric and others found in the literature, manually, by means of a goniometer.
Results: The sociodemographic data have similarities that support the validity of the study in this preliminary phase, in that they correspond to the general mean for the pathology under study. For the mobility ranges in the control group they agree with the normal goniometry ranges. A marked decrease of these ranges was found for the study group, particularly of cervical frontal flexion.
Conclusions: BASDAI and ASDAS scores were computed and considered as referents, once the second phase of this study begins, the respective comparisons and correlations of the variables will be made. So far we can consider that there is a homogeneous population, with comparable changes between both groups and sufficient for the purposes of the objective of the present study.
