| spa |

dc.description.abstractenglish | Between the years 2011 to 2017, 879 patients were treated at the post-operative primary knee hospital at the San Rafael de Bogotá Clinical Hospital; The criteria of the American Orthopedic Association for periprosthetic infection were applied to these patients and 19 infections were obtained in total, both intra-and extra-hospital, with a prevalence of 2.16%. 87.7% of infected patients were from surgeries performed at the institution, the rest correspond to extra-institutional surgical procedures; The total number of in-hospital infections were 13 patients out of 19 patients, giving us a prevalence for in-hospital infections of 1.47%, which is lower than that reported in the world literature (1,2,3). Of the total infections, 63% were considered acute (first month after surgery) and 37% chronic. The treatment received in 100% of the patients was necessary surgery. | eng |
