IAS 16 talks about property, plant and equipment, and how this asset account should be accounted for; in addition to showing users of the entity's financial information such as the investment in this account (that is, in which machinery, land, vehicles, among others; it is that they make up said account) it also shows how the different changes that these may have.
This standard also explains how to recognize if an asset belongs to property, plant and equipment; In addition to teaching their respective recognition and measurement, the quality is performed both initial and subsequent.
The standard of two options so that the entity can choose between its policies as it wants to recognize its measurement later; These options are at cost or revaluation; In addition to talking about one of the most important terms when accounting for and calculating the value of property, plant and equipment, which is depreciation.
It should be borne in mind that the property, plant and equipment that is constant for a useful life for the company, the quality can be by time or by production units (or similar); It should be emphasized that the useful life is not the same as the economic useful life; since the first refers to the one that I could serve the good to a person or company, on the other hand the second is the life that it has completely in other words let's say that a company has a car with fifteen years of useful life; It is the fifteenth year and the company cancels the car but the vehicle still works so it is sold to a person who had it for another fifteen years until the vehicle no longer works, the useful life for the company was Fifteen years old; while the economic useful life of the car was actually thirty years since until that time it was that I generated benefits to someone.
