Resumen
Objetivo. El objetivo de este artículo fue revisar exhaustivamente documentos relacionados con la temática mercurio en los peces y la posible afectación del consumo de estas. Materiales y métodos. Se realizó revisión de información de bases de datos virtuales & Ebook, de la Universidad Militar Nueva Granada, en esta se realizó búsqueda exhaustiva del tema “Mercurio e incidencia en la salud por el cosumo de peces con contenido de este metal pesado” las diferentes herramientas de esta plataforma fueron de gran ayuda en la búsqueda tanto de autores, revistas científicas, libros y artículos científicos.Conclusiones. Se concluyó que los beneficios y riesgos de la ingesta de pescado varían de acuerdo a la especie de pescado, tamaño y formas de cultivo, como también a la cantidad consumida y forma de preparación. Las mujeres en edad reproductiva, las gestantes, las nodrizas y los niños pequeños son considerados poblaciones sensibles a la exposición de pescados contaminados, dados los efectos negativos en el neurodesarrollo.
Objective. The objective of this article was to thoroughly review documents related to the subject of mercury in fish and the possible impact on their consumption. Materials and methods. A review of information from virtual databases & Ebook of the Nueva Granada Military University was carried out, in which an exhaustive search was carried out on the topic "Mercury and health incidence due to the consumption of fish containing this metal fish" the different tools of this platform increased the search for authors, scientific journals, books and scientific articles. Conclusions. It was concluded that the benefits and risks of eating fish vary according to the species of fish, size and forms of culture, as well as the amount consumed and the way it is prepared, women of reproductive age, pregnant women, wet nurses and young children are considered sensitive populations to exposure to contaminated fish, given the negative effects on neurodevelopment
