Abstract
This document contains the analysis of fluvial diachronism for a Putumayo river section located in the Puerto Asis Municipality, so a series of satellite images (Landsat) were selected, once pre-processed and analyzed with vector GIS techniques, they allow visualizing the morphometric behavior of the riverbed and estimating the direction that it may take in the future, as a preventive tool in the flood hazard identification for the municipal head. The research methodology includes the multitemporal analysis of images in time periods ranging from 1976/1987, 1987/1991, 1991/1996, 1996/2009 and 2009/2020. Among the vector techniques performed using the ArcGis 10.7 software, such as: (Georeferencing, digitization and generation of points, lines and polygons). We identified nine meanders for the study, and we calculated their centroid, radius of curvature, migration distance, temporality and angle of movement; similarly, we identified the active and inactive channel areas in each period of time and we generated conclusive statistics on the river aging. Dividing the meander migration distance vs the analysis time, we obtained the rate of change, which indicated high values for meander No.5 and which due to its morphodynamic behavior requires special attention because it represents a flooding threat in the near future for the populated sector of the Puerto Asis municipality.
