Abstract
Colombia has increased crop yield by increasing the use of herbicides such as Glyphosate (GP) and its commercial formulations such as Roundup Activo®, in order to control different weeds. This use has affected terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, causing malformations in amphibians. The Sabanera frog (D. molitor) lives in the Eastern Cordillera of Colombia, where GP is used for the performance of horticultural crops. A histopathological and morphometric study was performed by MOAR of the effect of sublethal concentrations of Roundup Activo® in the integumentary tissue of the Neotropical frog D. molitor. Four concentrations (0, 1.4, 3.6 and 5.6 a.e mg / L) were evaluated with two repetitions per treatment. Histopathological and morphometric alterations were found in the skin of D. molitor concentration dependent, the damage being greater in the higher concentrations and presenting hypertrophy and hyperplasia in the dermis, melanophores and melanin clusters and an increase in the number of mucous glands. It is concluded that despite using concentrations, D. molitor tadpoles present histopathological alterations that could affect their proper development.
