| spa |

dc.description.abstractenglish | Introduction: 2-stage revision surgery is the main method therapeutic for the treatment of periprosthetic knee infection, however, the success rate of this is variable in the literature and the factors associated with the failure treatment are not fully identified. These results have not been described in our population. The objective of this work is to describe the results of revision surgery in 2 stages, describe the population and its characteristics and analyze possible risk factors for treatment failure. Methods: It was decided to carry out a cross-sectional retrospective observational study cross-sectional including patients with periprosthetic knee infection treated in the years 2014 to 2018 in 2 institutions in Bogotá, Colombia. The measurement of demographic, clinical and perioperative variables, the rate of treatment success and possible factors associated with failure of treatment. Results: 76 patients were included in the study, the success rate is 81.6%, only 1 patient had mortality associated with the infection. Comorbidity plus The common was hypertension (67.1%), followed by obesity (48.6%). Swindle Regarding microbiological isolation, the most frequent findings were the culture negative in 27 (35.5%) patients, and S. aureus in 25 patients (32.8%). The duration in months with the spacer averaged 7 months, 6.2 months for the treatment success group and 10.5 for the failure group. Within the analysis of The results were significantly associated with the failure of the Version 4.0 April 2021 eleven treatment such as the male gender (P = 0.007), the presence of surgery of previous revision (P = 0.018) and prolonged time with the spacer. (P = 0.004). Conclusions: Treatment of periprosthetic knee infection with revision surgery in 2 times constitutes a useful and reproducible treatment alternative, with a rate of success in our population that is similar to that reported in other places of the world. In the present work there are associated factors such as presence of a previous revision and prolonged time with the spacer. | spa |
