Abstract
The importance of generating in the students of the Technology in Pre-Hospital Care (TAPH) from the second to the sixth semester of the Nueva Granada Military University (UMNG) the culture of always wearing their basic equipment with the uniform that easily identifies them as health personnel, led to the need to design a trauma kit, which aims to provide an indispensable tool for these students, which contains all the necessary and suitable elements. From this the research idea arose to identify and design a versatile and compact trauma kit that meets the minimum standards for optimal care for patients who require it, either inside or outside the university, this kit not only It will help the student in emergency events, also in the development of their daily practices during their career, since in it they will find the basic and indispensable elements of easy access, thus contributing to a correct training.
This project is of a mixed type, since the information on the benefit of the implementation and the proper use of the trauma kit for the use of the students of this Technology was collected, in the same way these data were collected taking into account the personnel benefited With the development of this project, observations were also made regarding the implements that make up the medicine cabinet, and through a survey with a qualitative and quantitative approach, it was possible to determine an ideal medicine cabinet model and prototype. The type of research is exploratory, since there is no prior information base on the implementation of a first aid kit aimed at the use of students, it was determined which elements are considered by teachers, graduates and students that are necessary and likewise the impact and benefit that it can generate.
As results, it was obtained that regarding the link with the UMNG, who predominate are the fifth semester students, 95% of the participants referred that its implementation is great need, the implements that the respondents defined for the formation of the first-aid kit are : PPE (gloves, masks and mono glasses), Trauma scissors, Triangular bandages, Elastic bandages, Gauze, Thermal blanket, Pocket Mask, Lower tongues, Stethoscope, Tensiometer, Pulse oximeter, Thermometer, Examination flashlight and Tourniquet for bleeding control, the Proposed measurements for the medicine cabinet chosen by the participants are: 25cm x 20cm x 15cm, they chose black as the ideal color for its design, it was evidenced that the majority of respondents prefer a trauma kit that is practical, compact and with the necessary elements, which are easily accessible and affordable.
According to the research carried out and a market study, it was determined that the ideal trauma kit with the previously mentioned elements has an approximate cost of COP $ 200,000. It is suggested to present this project to the direction of the technology program, the implementation of this kit for students and provide knowledge of this to new students who will not present that shortcoming when choosing which elements, they will use during their career.
