Neoplasms of the central nervous system are the second most common in the pediatric population, only exceeded in prevalence by leukemias, thus being the most common solid tumors in this age group. Likewise, they are the cause of higher morbidity and mortality in childhood cancer and represent up to 3.5% of all deaths due to neoplastic pathologies in patients between 0 and 14 years of age (1–4). The present study performs an analysis and description of the Clinical characteristics from the symptoms, the clinical findings with the signs on the physical examination, the correlation of the pre-surgical radiological diagnosis or pre-biopsy comparatively with the histological confirmation and the immunohistochemical profiles in a cohort of pediatric patients from the Central Military Hospital in the city of Bogotá, Colombia.
