The construction of the medical curriculum is one of the most controversial issues for medical educators, since the contents that are most pertinent for the comprehensive training of physicians are raised from the curriculum. However, the definition of the relevance of medical educational content is questionable as the generally pragmatic approach of Western medical educational models favors clinical memory training and the resolution of particular medical cases, reasons that alienate medical students of universal thought and the development of creative thought, pillars of research, which has changed the course of human medicine. Therefore, in this essay some considerations are raised about the limitations that some of the components of the medical model of medical training represent with respect to encouraging and developing competencies that favor investigative activities, while at the same time establishing a basis for a didactic proposal that encourages and brings university students closer to research in medicine.spa
