This document shows step by step the process of redesign of a thesis fabricated in 2014 by Eng. Juan Camilo Hernández Mejía (Project ING-IMP-3124) to opt for his Master’s degree in Mechatronic Engineering, the prosthesis in the year 2021 presents ruptures, damages and injuries in its mechanical and electronic components due to the course of time, friction, oxidation and others. The most relevant and best visualized current biomechatronic (prosthetic) developments in some scientific journals are analyzed in order to take the necessary ideas to redesign and refabricate a relatively low cost functional prosthetic device compared to the previous prototype (less than $10.000,000 Colombian pesos). Considering the data presented by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in November 2017 See Figure 1-4 only about 1.48 % of people with some disability have incomes above $1. 000,000 Colombian pesos, this amount barely manages to meet their basic needs, making it almost impossible for the user to acquire any rehabilitation system, which is why the cost of manufacturing this prosthesis should be the lowest possible, in turn providing some natural motor characteristics, thus improving the psychological and emotional state of the user.
