Abstract
El Hospital Militar Central es una institución de cuarto nivel de complejidad que presta
servicios de salud a una amplia población de todos los grupos etarios pertenecientes al
régimen especial de las fuerzas militares. El objetivo del estudio es caracterizar los
pacientes con diagnóstico de herpes zoster realizado por médicos generales y especialistas
en el hospital militar central durante 2018 al 2021, describiendo la distribución por edades,
la prevalencia de enfermedades y los antecedentes.
El herpes zoster es una enfermedad causada por el virus varicela-zoster (VZV) el cual
puede también generar una primo infección conocida como varicela (chickenpox).
Posteriormente a esta primo infección, el virus se refugia en los ganglios nerviosos de la
raíz dorsal, fase que conocemos como latencia, la cual puede nuevamente reactivarse
tiempo más tarde, esto secundario a una disminución en la respuesta inmune, ya sea por la
edad, o por situaciones inducidas como infección por el virus de la inmunodeficiencia
humana o medicamentos.
El presente trabajo es un estudio de corte transversal descriptivo, en donde se revisarán las
historias clínicas digitales de los pacientes diagnosticados con herpes zoster entre el 2018 y
2021, y se hará el cálculo de frecuencias de cada una de las variables relacionadas con el
perfil epidemiológico de la enfermedad. Como población de estudio se tomaran los
pacientes usuarios del sistema de salud de las fuerzas militares, en quienes se les realizó el
diagnóstico de herpes zoster en el hospital militar 2018 al 2021
The Central Military Hospital is a fourth level institution of complexity that provides
health services to a broad population of all age groups belonging to the
special regime of the military forces. The objective of the study is to characterize the
patients diagnosed with herpes zoster by general practitioners and specialists
in the central military hospital during 2018 to 2021, describing the distribution by age,
disease prevalence and history.
