Abstract
En el presente ensayo se aborda la temática sobre la importancia de adquirir habilidades lingüísticas de comunicación como leer, hablar, escribir y comprender un segundo idioma como el inglés, mandarín o francés entre otros además del nativo. Lo anterior con el pleno convencimiento de que el estudiante o docente universitario del siglo XXI sea un individuo capaz de generar cierta competencia laboral que termina reflejándose en la mejora continua de la calidad académica universitaria. Así como también, se intenta defender de manera constante que alcanzar un nivel de proficiencia en un idioma extranjero representa la probabilidad de una mejora sustancial del perfil profesional del estudiante y docente universitario que al final se espera se vea reflejado en una mejor oferta laboral. Es así como la educación superior de hoy día asume tantos retos dentro de su labor incesante de generar egresados que salgan al mundo real con aportes viables y significativos que impulsen sustancialmente al desarrollo económico y cultural de nuestra sociedad. Todo lo anterior basado en apuntar la mirada al estudio y la enseñanza de los idiomas desde una perspectiva multicultural pero universal.
This essay addresses the issue of the importance of acquiring linguistic communication skills such as reading, speaking, writing, and understanding a second language such as English, Mandarin, or French, among others, in addition to the native language. The foregoing is with the full conviction that the student or university professor of the XXI century is an individual capable of generating a certain job competence that ends up being reflected in the continuous improvement of university academic quality. As well as, it is constantly tried to defend that reaching a level of proficiency in a foreign language represents the probability of a substantial improvement in the professional profile of the student and university teacher. Which in the end is expected to be reflected in a better job offer. This is how today's higher education assumes so many challenges within its incessant work of generating graduates who go out into the real world with viable and significant contributions that substantially promote the economic and cultural development of our society. All of the above is based on looking at the study and teaching of languages from a multicultural but universal perspective.
