Abstract: El síndrome de Burnout o síndrome del trabajador quemado, afecta a un sin número de profesionales, especialmente profesores y trabajadores del área de la salud. Se caracteriza por presentar tres síntomas marcados: Agotamiento, despersonalización e ineficacia. Se debe a varias causas, principalmente a estrés y monotonía laboral. Actualmente el padecimiento de la enfermedad obedece a varios factores como el social, político y personal. Se deben plantear estrategias que permitan evitar el sufrimiento de la enfermedad y poder conducir al profesional a un desempeño óptimo y productivo de su actividad. La finalidad de este escrito es poder determinar las causas y posibles complicaciones del síndrome, una vez identificadas poder tomar medidas preventivas al padecimiento de la enfermedad, especialmente en los docentes universitarios, los cuales están más expuestos a sufrirlo.
Abstract: The Burnout’s syndrome or the burned worker syndrome, affects to an important number of professionals, especially to educators and to workers from the health care field. Its core characteristics are three important symptoms: Exhaustion, depersonalization, and inefficiency. Its origin is due to several sources, mainly due to stress and monotony at the labour environment. Currently, the illness happened due to several sources, such us social, political and personal issues. There are several strategies that must be placed to avoid this syndrome, and that would allow to the professional to perform his or her duties at the top level from the productive perspective in his field. The goal of this statement is to allow to find out the sources and potential complications that the syndrome could lead to; once the sources of the syndrome are found out, can take actions to prevent the illness, especially to the university professors, who are expose to suffer it.
