The study site corresponding to the road La Nevera - Guanapalo (Nunchía, Casanare), which after fifteen years of service is being rehabilitated to service three municipalities that are beneficiaries of the project. Rehabilitation design consisted mainly of removing the layer of asphalt mix, maintaining the existing granular material (classified as subbase with high percentage of fines), and then build the pavement structure. However, during the construction process they were presented ruttings where the thickness of the existing subbase material was less than forty centimeters, and there was no need to remove and replace by river material. In the K1 and K2 + 340 + 020 abscissa, it was built the original design and additionally a layer of river classified material was installed, but after paving longitudinal cracks appeared. For the following analysis of the pathology, the extracted cores propagation behavior reflected from the bottom up, possibly indicating that the cause was the structure. Performing collecting laboratory testing the material of the lower strata and the asphalt mix, monitoring the construction process, and design considerations of rehabilitation, it was concluded that the most likely origin of the appearance of cracks was responding to primary settlement of the foundation of the extension section of the embankment. As cracks treatment, it is proposed to be brought forward a seal to prevent the infiltration of surface water in the pavement structure, and increase the level of severity of the fault
