Abstract
The progressive evolution of both medical science and technological advances on diagnostic methods and developments in the antibiotic treatment of infectious diseases create the need to renew the knowledge of doctors in training (particularly on issues such as the correct interpretation of microbiological reports and bacterial resistance). Such input will be used as a fundamental tool when making decisions on antibiotic treatment and the consequently recovery of patients, especially those critically ill in institutions of third and fourth level of care. For that reason, the lack of practical training in the microbiology laboratory fosters the need to propose a pedagogical strategy about the teaching of bacterial resistance, addressed to doctors who attend the specialty of Internal Medicine at the Central Military Hospital.
Accordingly, this paper will not only problematize the lack of knowledge of the doctors, but will also enable the shaping of a proposal that allow them to make a better perception and ownership of that learning in the practical stage of the laboratory itself, applying as a teaching model the Problem Based Learning (PBL). In this model, the bacteriologist (teacher) guides the doctor (student) to the resolution of clinical cases promoting critical analysis of the situation exposed.
