Abstract
Logistics operators have a great responsibility in front of the service they offer to their customers and a challenge to be the strategic allies that require the clients to take the service, in order to create long-term business relationships, LO must reach a higher degree of effectiveness in the logistics processes, that the companies which accept the proposal to be their clients. The service is focused on the fulfillment of the defined indicators, this requires not only a prepared equipment, but also a control process of the managed inventory that support the operational processes of picking. The Operator's obligation is to accomplish with the service level agreement (SLA) at costs that are in line with the defined in the project´s financial study of the client's logistic study to achieve the profitability programmed by the project. This is why it must be guarantee that the information in the WMS (Warehouse Mangement Systems) and the physical locations were coincident, it means, that a reliable inventory is available, this is understood as obvious, but in practice there is a high incidence of the low reliability of the inventory in the picking processes, which can be translated into low indicators, or cost overrun of picking or in the worst cases in both results. This article will analyze the current methodology of cyclical inventories and will define an adjustment in this methodology, in order to increase and guarantee the reliability of the inventory, which will generate a greater efficiency in the processes to achieve the SLA and assure a viable operational model for the operator.
