Abstract
The incomplete combustion of the mineral coal present in the cooking process for the manufacture of ceramic material generates an impact on air quality, affecting the health of people who are directly and indirectly related to the activity, especially to that vulnerable population that makes part of the community adjacent to the industry, such as the elderly, children and people with respiratory diseases. The pollutants identified in the activity have biophysical, social and economic effects, caused by uncontrolled discharge of particulate matter and other gases. The purpose of this document is to analyze the air pollution reported by the use of mineral coal for the manufacture of clay, for this purpose the main impacts associated to the process were identified, as well as the pollutants emitted to the air and their impacts on the environment and health. ; Surveys were carried out to the actors directly involved in order to review how they have been affected by this problem, and finally the article seeks to propose technological conversion proposals that replace the use of mineral coal in the production of ceramics and clay. The results obtained, determined that there is a critical stage during the manufacture of brick that affects the quality of air, also showed a trend of respiratory diseases with the use of coal. It was possible to identify techniques to reduce emissions, however it was concluded that they must be socialized to strengthen clean production not only in the brick industry, but in the entire economy of the country.
