Abstract
The adequacy of both content and teaching methodologies has become a
necessary challenge, in a constantly changing social context, in which young people, surrounded by
screens from birth, have acquired different features to those of any
previous generation. The generation of young interactive natives (Bringué and Sádaba, 2009)
today it is evolving in a technological and dynamic scenario. However, it is not enough to manage
technology, but being competent digitally is imperative. Therefore, they are needed
alternatives to training and personal development needs, since more and more
evident the lack of effective solutions to their demands. In short, there is talk of the need to
rethink the educational process, seeking its optimal adaptation to new times and contexts
that occur in institutions. Taking into account the development of the analysis of the acquisition of
knowledge before the new digital era, it is necessary to synthesize two theories that can
develop such analysis as informal learning, to break paradigms
of traditional learning, and connectivism by the way in which new
information and communication technologies to the acquisition of knowledge, for
later synthesize the main functions of the professor in front of the student in the Digital Era
taking into account that more and more, students will have access to the same information,
same resources as the teacher.
Likewise, the use of networks in this field that imply changes in all
Elements of the educational process: institution, teacher and student. Where the teacher, for example,
in his role he will change from being the transmitter of knowledge to acting as guide, facilitator, in the
search for knowledge. In these circumstances, in addition to the fact that the latter is dedicated to transmitting
knowledge, will have to act as a facilitator, as a guide for the student to select, integrate,
rework the information and get significant learnings.
