Abstract
En el presente ensayo, se aborda principalmente los conceptos de valor razonable y valor neto razonable en el marco de la Norma Internacional Contable NIC 2 con el objetivo de clarificar su diferencia y subsanar cualquier confusión al respecto. Asimismo, de lo anterior se discute la importancia que tiene la comprensión de los diferentes términos usados dentro de las normas internacionales para contabilidad en pro de garantizar la calidad de la información contable fundamentalmente bajo los principios de fiabilidad, comparabilidad, transparencia y veracidad.
Se concluye que la armonización de la información contable supone un gran reto para los profesionales en contabilidad, exigiéndoles la comprensión plena de los conceptos, la teoría y las limitaciones en cuanto a aplicabilidad. En el caso específico del tratamiento contable de inventarios, se reconoce que de permanecer la confusión de términos y su uso indiscriminado, se estaría distorsionando la información sobre costos y por tanto, los estados financieros reportando información no veraz con múltiples repercusiones negativas para las empresas.
In this essay, the concepts of fair value and fair net value are mainly addressed within the framework of the International Accounting Standard IAS 2 with the aim of clarifying their difference and correcting any confusion in this regard. Likewise, from the above, the importance of understanding the different terms used within international accounting standards is discussed in order to guarantee the quality of accounting information, fundamentally under the principles of reliability, comparability, transparency and truthfulness.
It is concluded that the harmonization of accounting information represents a great challenge for accounting professionals, requiring a full understanding of the concepts, theory and limitations regarding applicability. In the specific case of the accounting treatment of inventories, it is recognized that if the confusion of terms and their indiscriminate use persists, the information on costs would be distorted and therefore, the financial statements reporting untrue information with multiple negative repercussions for the companies.
