Abstract
For companies and especially SMEs, which are the main productive apparatus of our country, to survive in these new times, where change and the demands of customers, who are increasingly more informed, are a constant, it is necessary that are willing to generate value and include it as a fundamental element of their strategic direction, associating it with the implementation of activities that allow creating sustainable competitive advantages. Based on the above, the present investigation arose, which had as its main objective to analyze the strategies used by small and medium-sized companies in Cundinamarca for the creation of sustainable value. The theoretical framework was based mainly on authors such as Michael Porter, from whom the value chain originates; John Elkington who exposes the Triple Bottom Line and Stuart Hart & Mark Milstein who introduce the concept of sustainable value creation in organizations. To meet the stated objectives, a descriptive research was structured, with a non-experimental-transactional field design. The information was collected through a questionnaire made up of 28 estimation questions, using a Likert scale and validated by five experts. The selection of the population under study was made for the interest of research and access to companies. The instrument was applied at the managerial / strategic level of SMEs, considering their managers, legal representatives, directors, among other managerial level positions. An intentional non-probabilistic sampling was used, where 105 companies participated. The reliability was obtained through the Cronbach's Alpha method and the resulting value for the applied instrument was 0.948, a value that according to Quero (2010) is satisfactory and guarantees that the instrument is reliable. Once the results were obtained and the information analysis carried out, it could be inferred in a general way that the SMEs of Cundinamarca are making efforts to obtain benefits with triple results (economic, environmental and social), but they still need to mature the process and especially strengthen environmental aspects, to be able to work under a true approach of creating sustainable value, which impacts its competitiveness and permanence in the market.
